One act, several different nights
The job changes depending on the room. A Sunday afternoon in a social club is not a wedding breakfast, and a corporate drinks reception is neither. What stays the same is that I turn up early, set up quietly and read what the room actually wants.

Ceremony, drinks reception, wedding breakfast or the evening. Gentle jazz standards while people eat, then something they can dance to later.

Seven sets, one evening
Repertoire is most of the job. Over the years I have built sets rather than a set, so a single booking does not have to sound the same from seven o’clock to midnight.
I try to read the audience and let them dictate where our musical adventure will be taking us for that evening.
